a story in limericks

There once was a girl with brown eyes

who went to school to become wise

she studied real hard

until her brain was lard

then came  home for some summer skies.

Now at school she was quite lazy

from learning until she was crazy

so once she was home

she decided to roam

to all the places that were now hazy.

Her first adventure was small

a bike ride to grandpa's was all

but instead of sun

she met something more fun

caught in the middle of a Florida downfall.

Perhaps that sounds extremely bad

but in fact she was actually very glad

the rain was cool

 better than school

even though she was soaked just a tad.

After a nice big whiff of after rain air

She quickly dried her clothes and hair

grabbed a book

found a nook

and spent all afternoon there.

It may be easier

to just buy strawberries

at the grocery store down the street.

But its way more fun

to pick your own

out there in the heat

with your pail 

praying that the dark 

clouds rolling in open up

and cool you off with a nice little downpour

and when they do you just 

keep on picking until your pail is full.

Eating lots of berries all the while. 

Oh summer.

How delicious are  Popsicles?

Especially on a really hot day

when even shorts and a tank 

are just too warm.

They get all drippy

and sticky

if you don't eat them fast.

Project Time

One thing I definitely love about Summer

is all the time there is

to do fun projects.

You can finally finish all the ones

you started during the year.

Like my yellow scarf 

that still needs knitting. 

But you can also start new ones

(yet again probably above my skill level)

Je pense de l'été

As I have only 2 more weeks

(and no more classes!) left of the year,

all I can think about is summer

 being home

what I want to do

where I want to go

and the people I want to see.

Don't get me wrong

I love it here

but nothing quite beats summer. 

Since I can't stop thinking about it

I've decided to blog about it

so that maybe just maybe 

I can actually focus on my finals.

So get ready for the upcoming

Super Sunny Summer Extravaganza!!!
